Judeo-Christian victory in California
Capitol Hill Update - March 11, 2010 - 9:35pmAtheist Michael Newdow lost a lawsuit today before a 3-judge panel of the most left-wing circuit court of appeals in America, the 9th Circuit in San Francisco, California. In a stunning rebuke to one of America's most infamous atheists who is attempting to strip God from the public square in America, the judicial panel in a 2-1 decision ruled that the words "under God" could be used in the Pledge of Allegiance and in a 3-0 decision the panel ruled that "In God We Trust" could be used on U.S. currency and coins.
The appeals court panel rejected Michael Newdow's claim that the phrases "under God" and "In God We Trust" violate some silly notion of "separation of church and state" which is found nowhere in the United States Constitution. The only place the left-wing in this country -- which has used the discredited claim of "separation of church and state" -- can find this phrase is in a letter which Thomas Jefferson wrote to a Connecticut Baptist pastor.
The Associated Press reported tonight that "The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel rejected two legal challenges by Sacramento atheist Michael Newdow, who claimed the references to God disrespect his religious beliefs. 'The Pledge is constitutional,' Judge Carlos Bea wrote for the majority in the 2-1 ruling. 'The Pledge of Allegiance serves to unite our vast nation through the proud recitation of some of the ideals upon which our Republic was founded.' read more »

Taxing A Recession, New Taxes in Budget, New Taxes in Healthcare, Record Debt and Government Spending.
Waynes Discernment - March 11, 2010 - 4:35pmYou can not spend your way out of a recession has been said enough times that now Obama may just consider it a "talking point." Reducing the cost of health care for seniors has also become an old talking point of the 2008 elections. Now taxing a recession is becoming a talking point.
The realities that increasing costs for businesses to hire employees will make them not hire employees has escape those who have faith in their President; They need to place their faith in God not Obama. read more »
Obama Advocates Domestic Violence
FMeekins - March 10, 2010 - 6:36pmSpeaking to the perceived inequalities between the sexes in regards to domestic labor, President Obama said in an NBC interview that he thought men "need to be knocked across the head every once in a while."
Many would brush the comments aside as the Chief Executive's attempt at humor. However, as the nation has learned as of result of Rush Limbaugh's failure to acquire a stake in the ownership of the Rams, some thought are so vile that they cannot be enunciated according to the NFL officials that denied the famed broadcaster this economic opportunity.
What if Obama had said every once in a while women need to be knocked across the head to be reminded of just how good they have it in this county? Given that Michelle had never felt pride in America until this past election cycle, it seems this is a lesson he has failed to get across to his little woman.
Radical feminists will respond that domestic violence against women is something its victims are so ashamed of that it can never be mentioned in a jocular manner.
Than isn’t it even more so when the victims are men? For the last time I checked, there were not entire cable networks and television programming blocks dedicated to stories of the struggles of battered men or entire charities established supposedly to address the needs of battered men which quietly toss their daughters into the streets for having reached an arbitrary age still well below the age of majority and irrespective of whether or not these youngsters are capable of providing for themselves.

Pelosi says they must pass ObamaCare for people to know what's in it
Capitol Notebook - March 10, 2010 - 1:30pmBelieve it or not, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in the course of promoting passage of the Senate version of ObamaCare, said that they need to pass the bill in order for people to really know what's in the bill.
Yes, really...
“You’ve heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don’t know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention—it’s about diet, not diabetes. It’s going to be very, very exciting.
“But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy."
We're not exactly sure why the bill would need to be "passed" in order for people to "find out what is in it". Maybe because, once it's law, people can read it...since the US Code of Laws is actually a public document? read more »

Quote of the day: ObamaCare edition
Capitol Notebook - March 10, 2010 - 11:33amLeave it to the always insightful Michael Barone to put things in perspective. Case in point is his column today discussing how the Democrats have put themselves squarely in the middle of the mess they are currently in...and his take on the complaints that the reason why they can't get something done (despite their big majorities) is Republican opposition.
There's a reason it's hard to pass unpopular legislation on party-line votes. It's not the Senate rules. It's called democracy.
Exactly. And, given the latest polls on the issue - and on the coming elections - you could take that one step further and say "public opinion".

Ironically AARP Forum RE Massa: We know about the bribes.
Waynes Discernment - March 9, 2010 - 9:53pmMany of the basic facts are across the internet. I think a fair statement would be "You can not fire me! I quit."
We know about the bribes. How about the blackmail & smear campaigns that have covnveniently happened to politicians that would oppose Obama administration? NY govenor was smeared right after he refused to not run. A few dems had initial smear stories on MSNBC that were not followed up after the targeted legislators voted with party the next week. And in case you missed it Maddow started on Fri. smear of Stupak. Will Stupak stay the course & vote his convictions and get smeared or will he bow to blackmail & story will disappear?
The interview on Glenn Beck was not from a man with a lot of fight left in him. No sign of the nobel reasons to be in public office. While he wants to retain his standards - which he said he did not while in office - he does not represent that others have those standards; no demands from him that they should. read more »

Public opinion, and other problems with ObamaCare
Capitol Notebook - March 9, 2010 - 11:41amThe biggest (political) problem with ObamaCare is that the public doesn't want it, as poll after poll after poll has demonstrated. The latest comes from Rasmussen, which shows (ominously for Obama) that the more Congress and the public focuses on the issue, the more opposed they become to it.
Currently, 53% of Americans are opposed to the pending Senate version of the bill, and only 42% support it. Keep in mind that these numbers come AFTER Congress spent over a year working on the issue, Obama made dozens of speeches and town hall appearances, and after the highly covered health care "summit" meeting with Congress that Obama sponsored. 55% think Congress should scrap the whole thing and start from scratch. read more »

CBS Glorifies Obama for Christian Compassion!
Waynes Discernment - March 8, 2010 - 4:49pmHat Tip NewsBusters
Near the end of Monday's CBS Early Show, co-host Erica Hill touted a new Parade magazine survey on volunteerism in America: "it indicates America is in the midst of what some are calling a compassion boom." Moments later, the magazine's contributing editor, Emily Listfield, argued: "There's something we call the 'Obama Effect.' People are responding to the President's call to service."
The contrast with the truth I believe is all that need be said.
Forgive Barbara Boxer but vote her out of office
Waynes Discernment - March 8, 2010 - 1:02pmCross posted on At The Water Cooler
Forgiving does not mean to hold up somebody who has shown poor judgment and offer excuses for their poor judgment to positions were they will use their judgment. It is possible for people to learn from their mistakes and learn - It is also possible for people not to learn and continue to make them.
It is possible for pro-choice advocates to change; And, that is a great thing; But, Barbara Boxer has not changed. Boxer voted to block Stupak amendment, and against other amendments from representatives of the people, that stop tax payer funding of abortion. If life were on a scale (it is not) between two evils - her position would be to the extreme on the right to kill side. Forgiving does not mean allowing somebody to continue to kill.
The Congress are voted on by the people to represent the people - Boxer does not even know who the people are! read more »
