A very courageous Miss California

Miss California, Carrie Prejean, the runner-up to the winner of the Miss USA contest last weekend, in answer to a question from one of the 12 judges, a homosexual blogger, said that "marriage should between a man and a woman."  Such a statement is hardly controversial, considering the fact that an average of 70% of the voters in 30 states, so far, have voted for amendments to uphold traditional marriage in their state constitutions, i.e. marriages in those states will be between one man and one woman.

The attacks on Miss California have almost been equal to those vicious attacks on Anita Bryant, a couple decades ago,  Mrs. Bryant, who became famous originally being on the Mickey Mouse Club, represented the orange industry in Florida and she also spoke out for traditional values and against the homosexual lobby's tactics.  Because of the savage attacks against her, Mrs. Bryant lost her job.

It appears that Carrie Prejean was discriminated against in the Miss USA contest because of her religious beliefs.  Hopefully, Miss California's courageous statements about traditional marriage, will not hurt her in whatever career she chooses.  She mentioned that she may be interested in elected office someday.  America needs courageous leaders.

Miss California mentioned that the voters in her "country" (what she meant to say was her state of California) agreed with her on the issue of upholding traditional marriage.  And she is right. Just last year in the election, voters in the very liberal state of California voted for Proposition 8 by a margin of 52-48.

California, along with voters in Florida and Arizona last November, joined 27 other states  --  with more states to follow  --  in adding a constitutional amendment to their state constitutions upholding traditional marriage.  Carrie Prejean considers the fact that she was asked that question a blessing.  Undoubtedly, her answer to that controversial question has now opened up to her more doors than had she been selected Miss USA.

I think whenever someone

I think whenever someone makes a statement like she made, you are going polarize people. The tradtitionalists will give her more support, and the new-age gay marriage supporters will be against it. Anyway, she's still getting publicity!

I am so impressed with

I am so impressed with Carrie Prejean. Usually, we think of beauty contestants as, generally, catty women who will do anything to win. Ms. Prejean undoubedly worked extremely hard to get to the top of the Miss USA pageant and to be a contender for Miss USA. Yet, when it came down to winning that, or staying true to her faith in God and principles, she stuck with the latter, and made a great sacrifice. She is not stereotypical at all. She realizes she did the right thing by her comments. She was baited in a meanspirited and devious way, and did not take the bait. She has been humble and classy in how she tactfully and honestly just answered a question put to her (not to mention in a way that is accurate to what marriage is in fact), and in her statements since. Way to go, Carrie! You are the
WINNER!

God bless her for sticking

God bless her for sticking up for her beliefs in the public eye.  I wish more Christian's in the public eye would stick up for their beliefs (i.e. Like Kirk Cameron turns down rolls in film that go against his Christian beliefs and God's ways).
